Introduction to Wheel Throwing

Get a feel for the pottery wheel in this hands-on, beginner-friendly workshop. No experience needed—just curiosity and a willingness to get your hands dirty.

Age Requirement: Minimum age is 15 years old.

In this two-hour session, you’ll learn the core techniques of wheel throwing, including centering clay, opening and widening, compressing the base, pulling up the walls, shaping your piece, and trimming away excess clay.

We recommend removing jewellery and trimming long nails for the best experience, although throwing is still possible with longer nails.

With only six wheels available, this intimate class size ensures plenty of one-on-one guidance. You won’t get lost in the crowd, and you’ll have time and space to practise and build confidence.

You’re welcome to make as many pieces as you can during the session. At the end, you’ll select two to be professionally finished. These will be dried, bisque fired, glazed, and glaze fired by your instructor. Please allow 6 to 8 weeks for the full process before your pieces are ready for pickup.

This workshop is perfect for first-timers and curious creatives. Whether you’re exploring a new hobby, spending time with family, or planning a fun outing with friends, it’s a memorable and rewarding experience.
