Introduction to Wheel Throwing Workshop

Includes Colouring, Glazing and Firing for $112

Get a taste of the pottery wheel in this fun, beginner-friendly workshop in Brisbane!
Perfect for ages 15 and up, this hands-on two-hour session introduces you to the fundamentals of wheel throwing. You’ll learn how to centre clay, open and widen the form, compress the base, pull up the walls, shape your pot, and trim excess clay.

It’s recommended to remove all jewellery and trim long nails beforehand—but don’t worry, you can still participate with longer nails if needed.

With only six wheels available, the class size is kept intentionally small to give you plenty of one-on-one guidance and time to practise. This means more personalised attention and a more rewarding learning experience.

You’ll have the chance to create as many pieces as you can during the session, and two of your favourites will be professionally fired and glazed by your instructor. Please note: the full firing process (bisque and glaze) takes approximately 6–8 weeks.

This workshop is perfect for complete beginners and makes a great one-off experience for anyone curious about pottery. It’s also a fantastic creative activity to enjoy with friends or family.

Pickup Policy

I wanted to take a moment to kindly clarify the pottery pickup process moving forward.

Your pieces will go through two rounds of firing (bisque and glaze) and will take approximately 6 weeks to complete. I unfortunately can not speed up this process. Once they’re ready, you’ll be able to collect them from my home studio during a pre-booked pickup timeslot.

Pickup times are strictly limited to:

  • Mondays: 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM

  • Saturdays: 7:00 AM – 8:30 AM

  • Sundays: 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM

After your workshop, please book a pickup appointment via the booking system below for a time that suits you—at least 6 weeks after your class to ensure your pieces are fully ready. This allows me to keep track of your pieces and have them returned to you correctly.
